“Yumio, you want to take Joy and Charlie to Mecha Planet? I’ll drop off my parents and join you.” 

Charlie and Joy smile at each other in approval. 

“Sure thing,” Yumio says. She jumps off the railing and into the air. 

One of these big robots I’ve learned to call mechas - one of those mechas takes form around Yumio, and with it she is as tall as the mast. 

The mecha fires up from its legs and back and she remains hovering in the air. She opens a mecha’s hand next to the railing. Joy and Charlie climb aboard. 

“Cutey,” she says and opens up her mecha’s other hand. 

Master Mind climbs aboard the other hand. 

“Don’t start the adventure until I get there!” 

“Yes, boss!” Yumio says and her mecha speeds into the sky and into outer space. 

Justin smiles at Suzy and me and says, “Let’s make it look good.” 

He starts the ship in a downward trajectory towards our island, but it moves slowly. 

“Come on,” he says, as he leaves the wheel and goes into Joy’s cabin. “Let’s find it.” 

Suzy follows first, “What do you mean?” 

I follow next. 

“It has to be Joy,” Justin says. “There’s no one else among us who is sneaky enough and smart enough to be able to break a mirror without Master Mind hearing it,” he says as he begins to search hiding places in her cabin. 

“But why would she–” I ask, as Justin looks under Joy’s pillow and finds nothing. “Why would she do it?” 

“There we go!” A broken piece of the mirror rests underneath Joy’s mattress.

Suzy sighs in relief. “At least it’s not a monster.” 

“Oh, but is a different kind of monster,” Justin says, shaking his head. “The teenage monster.”
