#386: The Two Killers, Part 1

I have told you of the day when Dragon Father decided to teach Dragon Little that killing ist necessary. I have told you how he created a dream that forced her to kill the Goblin Monster

I have not told you of the things that happened afterwards, when Dragon Father was away and awake in what dreamers often call ‘the real world’.

After Dragon Father disappeared, Dragon Little walked the deck from side to side for more than an hour. She climbed the mast and sat in the crow’s nest. She sat on the plank and stared at the ocean.

She took Bonny’s Revenge for a flight around the stars and quickly returned to the ocean, having stopped for nothing on the way.

That day, Dragon Little fell asleep in the crow’s nest.

When Dragon Father arrived, it took him a while to find her.

Their adventure was a small one and Dragon Little participated half-heartedly.

Dragon Father disappeared, having won the day by himself. The villain disappeared with him.

Dragon Little again walked the deck from side to side for more than an hour.

Then, hesitantly, she stepped through the door that led to the stairs which led to the Infinite Prison in the belly of the ship.

As the stairs turned, I lost sight of her.

But my sharp dragon ears could still hear her.

I recognized the number of steps. I knew who she had come to see.

But the two did not talk.

Then Dragon Little said, “Hi.”

“Hello, Nestling,” I heard the familiar deep voice of General Hawk.

Dragon Little and General Hawk and been great friends until General Hawk killed the Evil Forest Fairy King almost a year ago. He had killed him to save Dragon Little’s life, but Dragon Little had not accepted that. She had insisted that “killing is wrong” and will never speak to General Hawk again.

Now she had killed.

And now she had returned.

“Do you know what I did?” I heard her voice tremble.

“What did you do, Nestling?”

Her voice was almost inaudible when she said, “I killed the Goblin Monster.”

As she said it, she began to cry. Crying came out of her in a tidal wave.

But wait. I cannot handle her pain. I will wait and lick my wounds and tell you tomorrow what happened then.
