#298: Space: The Final Frontier, Part 2

I was watching from afar, watching from my hidden vantage point where no one could ever see me, and I wondered if I should help rescue Dragon Little.

She was stuck in space, spinning around in weightlessness, a meter above the highest point of Bonny’s Revenge’s mast. Her father had put her there to experience weightlessness - which ist something I have never seen in any other dream. Even in his dream, it was the first time I had seen it. But then he had vanished, leaving her stuck.

As I have before, and as I have afterwards, I preferred to leave her stranded: To teach her about the hardships of life, to harden her for the horrible creatures that look for her outside her father’s dreams and that in all likelihood will find her sooner rather than later in Dragon Little’s no doubt short life span.

But then I saw something.

Dragon Little noticed it before me, and I followed her gaze.

A familiar flying pirate ship emerged from behind the moon, and flew towards Dragon Little.

I perked up, ready to perhaps take action.

It was the pirate ship of Captain Badass, the only villain who was ever able to escape the Infinite Prison, and escape it repeatedly.

Dragon Father would be gone for the next sixteen or seventeen hours. She would be unprotected… except for me.

I stood up in my hiding place… but I waited.

The villain’s ship stopped short of touching Dragon Little.

Captain Badass, walking on his wooden peg leg, came to the side of the ship and looked Dragon Little in the eye. He was a hand’s reach away.

“Well, looky looky looky, what we have here…” he snarled.

She steadied her spin to look him in the eyes.

“...A helpless pirate, waiting just for me. You and me are going to have some fun!”

I saw him begin to move his arm and reach out for her. I decided to take action - silent action, for now.

I blew a soft but sharp piece of wind from my mouth, kilometers above them in the sky, “Pooh!” It was sharp enough to reach Dragon Little quickly, but soft enough to hit her softly.

“You just try!” Dragon Little shouted at him, as he reached for her.

But just before his fingers touched her, my wind got there first and blew her softly downwards.

It was a gentle movement, but in her weightlessness she had moved just out of his reach.

“Huh?” he said. Then, gesturing back to his pirates, “Get me closer to her! Closer!”

Dragon Little kept moving down slowly, towards the deck.

Captain Badass, now closer, reached for her again, but she still moved out of reach. “Closer closer! We can’t let her get to the deck!”

The pirates’ ship moved closer, having learned their lesson. But Dragon Little, still a few meters above the deck, reached for the sail and grabbed it.

Gravity took hold of her immediately, and she slipped down the sail and onto the deck, out of Captain Badass’ reach.

She ran to the ship’s wheel, and said, “Bye bye!” as Bonny’s Revenge zoomed with the speed of a dragon towards the edge of the solar system.

I breathed a sigh of relief. I had been able to save Dragon Little and nothing bad happened to this wonderful child.

But that ist not the end of this story. One more thing happened, and I will tell you about it tomorrow.
